As part of the preparation process for the 2021 City of Chicago budget, the City conducted a public survey. The final results are shown in this dataset.

For the $1000 Assignment columns, negative and blank values have been converted to $0 if any question is this series was answered. If the total allocated was above or below $1000, all values have been adjusted proportionally to bring the total to $1000.

The Annual Appropriation Ordinance is the final City operating budget as approved by the City Council. It reflects the City’s operating budget at the beginning of the fiscal year on January 1. This dataset details the budgeted expenditures in the Ordinance and identifies them by department, appropriation account, and funding type: Local, Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG), and other Grants. “Local” funds refer to those line items that are balanced with locally generated revenue sources, including but not limited to the Corporate Fund, Water Fund, Midway and O’Hare Airport funds, Vehicle Tax Fund, Library Fund and General Obligation Bond funds.

This dataset reflects the daily volume of violations created by the City of Chicago Red Light Program for each camera. The data reflects violations that occurred from July 1, 2014 until present, minus the most recent 14 days. This data may change due to occasional time lags between the capturing of a potential violation and the processing and determination of a violation. The most recent 14 days are not shown due to revised data being submitted to the City of Chicago during this period. The reported violations are those that have been collected by the camera system and reviewed by two separate City contractors. In some instances, due to the inability the registered owner of the offending vehicle, the violation may not be issued as a citation. However, this dataset contains all violations regardless of whether a citation was actually issued, which provides an accurate view into the Red Light Program. Because of occasional time lags between the capturing of a potential violation and the processing and determination of a violation, as well as the occasional revision of the determination of a violation, this data may change. A public passenger vehicle is a vehicle used for the transportation of passengers for hire by a public chauffeur. The list of public passenger vehicles includes licensed taxicabs (medallions), liveries, ambulances, medicars, charter-sightseeing buses, horse-drawn carriages, and pedicabs. The Chicago Park District maintains sensors at beaches along Chicago's Lake Michigan lakefront. These sensors generally capture the indicated measurements hourly while the sensors are in operation during the summer. During other seasons and at some other times, information from the sensors may not be available. In some instances, due to the inability the registered owner of the offending vehicle, the violation may not be issued as a citation. However, this dataset contains all violations regardless of whether a citation was issued, which provides an accurate view into the Automated Speed Enforcement Program violations taking place in Children's Safety Zones. This dataset follows the format of the equivalent datasets from past years except that Appropriation Authority and Appropriation Account have changed from Number to Text in order to accommodate non-numeric values.
