Concentrations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the COVID-19 virus) gene in the Chicago sewer system, as measured at eight sewershed sites. These sites represent catchment areas that describe wastewater from 319,700 Chicagoans as of January 2023.
Because SARS-CoV-2 is shed in human feces, this method can be used to estimate changes in COVID-19 at different times and locations across Chicago. While the data in this dataset do not indicate how many people were infected with SARS-CoV-2, differences in the the normalized_n1 indicate whether the proportion of individuals at the site who are shedding that virus has changed.

For flu shot locations, go to https://data.cityofchicago.org/Health-Human-Services/Flu-Shot-Locations-2014-Present/w3hg-pyhz.
Note for using this dataset that it is always recommended that individuals contact their healthcare provider or closest pharmacy to check on vaccine availability prior to walking in for vaccination. Each vaccine has a filtered view showing only records from that vaccine and blank filter conditions that can be used to filter further by time. These filtered views can be used for almost all purposes as if they were datasets, although any additional criteria added by a user would need to be saved to a new filtered view in order to use it in this manner. This dataset approximately follows https://github.com/codeforamerica/flu-shot-spec/blob/master/data-format.csv and is designed for use by https://github.com/tkompare.

Chicago residents who are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines by ZIP Code, based on the reported home address and age group of the person vaccinated, as provided by the medical provider in the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE).
“Up to date” refers to individuals who meet the CDC’s updated COVID-19 vaccination criteria based on their age and prior vaccination history. For surveillance purposes, up to date is defined based on the following criteria:
People ages 5 years and older:
· Are up to date when they receive a single dose of an updated (2023-2024 formula) vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Novavax) regardless of their prior vaccination history
· Are up to date when they receive a single dose of an updated (2023-2024 formula) vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Novavax) regardless of their prior vaccination history
Children aged 6 months to 4 years:
· Children who’ve received at least two prior COVID-19 vaccine doses are up to date when they receive one additional dose of updated COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula), regardless of vaccine product
· Children who’ve received only one prior COVID-19 vaccine dose are up to date when they receive one additional dose of updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula) or two additional doses of updated Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula)
· Children who have never received a COVID-19 vaccination are up to date when they receive either two doses of the updated Moderna vaccine (2023-2024 formula) or three doses of the updated Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (2023-2024 formula)

Data Notes:
Weekly cumulative totals of people up to date are shown for each combination ZIP Code and age group. Note there are rows where age group is "All ages" so care should be taken when summing rows.
Coverage percentages are calculated based on the cumulative number of people in each ZIP Code and age group who are considered up to date as of the week ending date divided by the estimated number of people in that subgroup. Population counts are obtained from the 2020 U.S. Decennial Census. For ZIP Codes mostly outside Chicago, coverage percentages are not calculated reliable Chicago-only population counts are not available. Actual counts may exceed population estimates and lead to coverage estimates that are greater than 100%, especially in smaller ZIP Codes with smaller populations. Additionally, the medical provider may report a work address or incorrect home address for the person receiving the vaccination, which may lead to over- or underestimation of vaccination coverage by geography. All coverage percentages are capped at 99%.
Weekly cumulative counts and coverage percentages are reported from the week ending Saturday, September 16, 2023 onward through the Saturday prior to the dataset being updated.
All data are provisional and subject to change. Information is updated as additional details are received and it is, in fact, very common for recent dates to be incomplete and to be updated as time goes on. At any given time, this dataset reflects data currently known to CDPH.
Numbers in this dataset may differ from other public sources due to when data are reported and how City of Chicago boundaries are defined.

This dataset contains the weekly estimated influenza risk level for each ZIP Code in Chicago. Estimates are made during flu season, which goes from MMWR week 40 to week 20 of the following year.
The risk level is based on observed level of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI). ILI Activity Level is determined as follows: ILI percentage for each ZIP Code for the week is compared to the mean ILI percentage during the non-influenza months (summer months). Level 1 corresponds to an ILI percentage below the mean, level 2 to an ILI percentage less than one standard deviation (SD) above the mean, level 3 to an ILI percentage more than one, but less than two SDs above mean, and so on, with level 10 corresponding to an ILI percentage more than eight SDs above the mean.
For more information on ESSENCE, which compiles the estimates, see https://www.dph.illinois.gov/data-statistics/syndromic-surveillance

Chicago residents who are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines by Healthy Chicago Equity Zone (HCEZ), based on the reported address, race-ethnicity, and age group of the person vaccinated, as provided by the medical provider in the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE).
Healthy Chicago Equity Zones is an initiative of the Chicago Department of Public Health to organize and support hyperlocal, community-led efforts that promote health and racial equity. Chicago is divided into six HCEZs. Combinations of Chicago’s 77 community areas make up each HCEZ, based on geography. For more information about HCEZs including which community areas are in each zone see: https://data.cityofchicago.org/Health-Human-Services/Healthy-Chicago-Equity-Zones/nk2j-663f

Data notes:
Weekly cumulative totals of people up to date are shown for each combination of race-ethnicity and age group within an HCEZ. Note that each HCEZ has a row where HCEZ is “Citywide” and each HCEZ has a row where age is "All" and race-ethnicity is “All Race/Ethnicity Groups” so care should be taken when summing rows.
Coverage percentages are calculated based on the cumulative number of people in each population subgroup (age group by race-ethnicity within an HCEZ) who are up to date, divided by the estimated number of people in that subgroup. Population counts are from the 2020 U.S. Decennial Census. Actual counts may exceed population estimates and lead to >100% coverage, especially in small race-ethnicity subgroups of each age group within an HCEZ. All coverage percentages are capped at 99%. Summing all race/ethnicity group populations to obtain citywide populations may provide a population count that differs slightly from the citywide population count listed in the dataset. Differences in these estimates are due to how community area populations are calculated.

List of sites that guarantee specific, non-flu vaccines will be in-stock and available for the time period indicated in each record.

Public alerts for the Chicago Department of Public Health's (CDPH) Health Alert Network (HAN).
The HAN provides CDPH with the capacity for quick, efficient, reliable, and secure web-based communication with CDPH staff, providers of medical care, laboratories, first responders and other local public health agencies and partners. The HAN facilitates CDPH’s day-to-day activities, including outbreak detection, investigation, and emergency response.
This dataset is published as a convenience to complement the HAN site, itself. While alerts generally are published promptly, for uses involving risk to health and/or life, please contact the HAN team directly to discuss other methods of receiving alerts.
The contents of this dataset, the HAN site, and CDPH's Web site are not intended to be substitutes for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Professional medical advice should not be ignored because of something you have read on this data portal or any CDPH site.

Date is the end date of a seven-day window over which the number of daily deaths is averaged before using population to calculate the rates.
Note that because of delayed reporting, counts from recent dates are likely to be preliminary and to increase as the Department of Public Health gets additional reports.

In Illinois, influenza associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) hospitalizations are reportable as soon as possible, but within 24 hours. Influenza associated ICU hospitalizations are defined as individuals hospitalized in an ICU with a positive laboratory test for influenza A or B, including specimens identified as influenza A/H3N2, A/H1N1pdm09, and specimens not subtyped (e.g., influenza positive cases by PCR or any rapid test such as EIA).
This dataset represents weekly aggregated information for influenza-associated ICU hospitalizations among Chicago residents, which is a reportable condition in Illinois.
Information includes demographics, influenza laboratory results, vaccination status, and death status.
Column names containing "REPORTED" indicate the number of cases for which the indicated data element was reported. This, rather than the total number of cases, is used to calculate the corresponding percentage.
All data are provisional and subject to change. Information is updated as additional details are received. At any given time, this dataset reflects data currently known to CDPH. Numbers in this dataset may differ from other public sources.
