This dataset shows those precincts for which such restrictions have been requested by voter petition, including those approved by ordinance and potentially those for which an attempted repeal of the prohibition is underway or complete.

This dataset includes recommended positions and salaries for 2019 by title (without names) and salary. The dataset is excerpted from the 2019 Budget Recommendations, which is the line-item budget proposed by the Mayor to the City Council for approval. Disclaimer: the “Total Budgeted Unit” column displays either A) the number of employees AND vacancies associated with a given position, or B) the number of budgeted units (ie. hours/months) for that position. “Position Control” determines whether Total Budgeted Units column will count employees and vacancies or hours/months. List of CPS schools for the 2013-2014 academic year. This dataset includes various identifiers used to identify school districts, including names; local, state, and federal IDs; and geographic descriptions on the location of each school.

This dataset contains environmental holds placed by the Department of Environment (DOE) up to December 31, 2011 and by the Department of Public Health (CDPH) post December 31, 2011 on construction-related permits issued by the City of Chicago. On January 1, 2012, the DOE was disbanded and all its inspection, permitting, and enforcement authorities were transferred to the CDPH. This dataset also contains No Further Remediation Letters (NFRs) received by the DOE or the CDPH for properties that have been cleaned up under the Illinois Environmental Protections Agency’s (IEPA) Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) program. Throrium holds in this dataset ends November 15, 2016.

APPLICATION ID: Unique identifier of record.
MAPPED LOCATION: Contains latitude/longitude coordinates of the site as determined through the Chicago Open Data Portal’s geocoding engine. In instances where the facility address is a range, the lower number (the value in the “Street Number From” column) is used for geocoding. For example, for the range address 1000-1005 S Wabash Ave, the Mapped Location would be the coordinates for 1000 S Wabash Ave.
TYPE: Specifies the type of permit hold placed on a property or the hold released on an individual permit. HIGHWAY AUTHORITY AGREEMENT is a permit hold placed on construction projects in the public right-of-way at certain locations in the City of Chicago. Refer to http://tinyurl.com/bn3grwt for more information. A THORIUM PERMIT HOLD is a permit hold placed on select properties in the Streeterville area for thorium contamination. Refer to http://tinyurl.com/d6wth39 . A THORIUM PERMIT HOLD RELEASE indicates that an applicant has complied with the necessary requirements and the Thorium Permit Hold has been lifted on the permit application. An NFR LUST is not a permit hold but the property may have certain land use restrictions or requirements (i.e. institutional or engineering controls) to prevent or minimize exposure of contaminants that may still be present at the property.

This dataset contains amounts shown in the TIF District Programming 2018-2022 reports as well as from 2023 through the planned expiration of each TIF district. The report and corresponding dataset show estimated fund and project balances through the end of FY 2017. Areas of Chicago, based on census tracts, that are the most socioeconomically disadvantaged, for the purpose of promoting equitable hiring within areas of economic need. Qualifying areas were identified using three criteria, based on data from the 2014 American Community Survey: household income, poverty rate, and unemployment rate.

These area designations are used for workforce bid incentives for City contracts administered by the Department of Procurement Services. They will also be used for workforce requirements for construction at the temporary casino facility, as agreed to in the Host Community Agreement between Bally’s and the City of Chicago.

The designations are made under Section 2-92-390 of the City of Chicago code.

In order to help contractors and private residents avoid existing utility lines (including gas, electrical, and water lines) when digging, the Chicago Department of Transportation maintains 811 Chicago, a free, 24-hour service to private contractors and homeowners in Chicago. Anyone planning to dig within Chicago must obtain a “dig ticket” from 811 Chicago. 811 Chicago notifies all utilities of the impending excavations. The utility owners then send out staff to mark the location of the underground facilities within 48 hours (excluding emergencies), not counting Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

This dataset shows these utility notifications. Since it is common for the same dig ticket to produce multiple notifications, the same dig ticket will appear multiple times and this dataset cannot be used without further refinement to count, map, or analyze unique excavations in Chicago.
