The Annual Appropriation Ordinance is the final City operating budget as approved by the City Council. It reflects the City’s operating budget at the beginning of the fiscal year on January 1, 2024.

This dataset contains the revenue detail portion of the Ordinance for Local funds. “Local” funds are all funds, other than grant funds, used by the City for non-capital operations - including, but not limited to, the Corporate Fund, Water Fund, Midway and O’Hare Airport funds, Vehicle Tax Fund, and the Library Fund.

This dataset displays the positions and related salaries detailed in the budget as of January 1. It is extracted from the personnel portion of the Appropriation Ordinance. The dataset presents the position titles (without names) and salaries described in the budget, but does not provide a reflection of the current city workforce with full names and salaries.

Disclaimer: the “Total Budgeted Units” column displays either A) the number of employees AND vacancies associated with a given position, or B) the number of budgeted units (ie. hours/months) for that position. “Position Control” determines whether Total Budgeted Units column will count employees and vacancies or hours/months. If a Position Control is 1, then employees and vacancies are displayed; if a Position Control is 0, then the total number of hours/months recorded is displayed.

Chicago residents who are up to date with COVID-19 vaccines by Healthy Chicago Equity Zone (HCEZ), based on the reported address, race-ethnicity, and age group of the person vaccinated, as provided by the medical provider in the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE).

Healthy Chicago Equity Zones is an initiative of the Chicago Department of Public Health to organize and support hyperlocal, community-led efforts that promote health and racial equity. Chicago is divided into six HCEZs. Combinations of Chicago’s 77 community areas make up each HCEZ, based on geography. “Up to date” refers to individuals who meet the CDC’s updated COVID-19 vaccination criteria based on their age and prior vaccination history. For surveillance purposes, up to date is defined based on the following criteria:

People ages 5 years and older:
·Are up to date when they receive a single dose of an updated (2023-2024 formula) vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or Novavax), regardless of their prior vaccination history.

Children aged 6 months to 4 years:
· Children who’ve received at least two prior COVID-19 vaccine doses are up to date when they receive one additional dose of updated COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula), regardless of vaccine product.
· Children who’ve received only one prior COVID-19 vaccine dose are up to date when they receive one additional dose of updated Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula) or two additional doses of updated Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (2023-2024 formula).
· Children who have never received a COVID-19 vaccination up to date when they receive either two doses of the updated Moderna vaccine (2023-2024 formula) or three doses of the updated Pfizer vaccine (2023-2024 formula).

This dataset takes the place of a previous dataset, which cover doses administered from December 15, 2020 through September 13, 2023 and will be marked as historical shortly after the launch of this dataset:

Weekly cumulative totals of people up to date are shown for each combination of race-ethnicity and age group within an HCEZ. Note that each HCEZ has a row where HCEZ is “Citywide” and each HCEZ has a row where age is "All" and race-ethnicity is “All Race/Ethnicity Groups” so care should be taken when summing rows.

Coverage percentages are calculated based on the cumulative number of people in each population subgroup (age group by race-ethnicity within an HCEZ) who are up to date, divided by the estimated number of people in that subgroup. Population counts are from the 2020 U.S. Decennial Census. Actual counts may exceed population estimates and lead to >100% coverage, especially in small race-ethnicity subgroups of each age group within an HCEZ. All coverage percentages are capped at 99%. Summing all race/ethnicity group populations to obtain citywide populations may provide a population count that differs slightly from the citywide population count listed in the dataset. Differences in these estimates are due to how community area populations are calculated.

Weekly cumulative counts and coverage percentages are reported from the week ending Saturday, September 16, 2023 onward through the Saturday prior to the dataset being updated.

Additionally, the medical provider may report a work address or incorrect home address for the person receiving the vaccination, which may lead to over- or underestimation of vaccination coverage by geography. This dataset includes aggregated weekly respiratory virus laboratory data that the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) uses to monitor influenza, COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and other respiratory virus activity in Chicago. The data represents respiratory viral PCR tests performed by several hospital laboratories in Chicago as well as two commercial laboratories serving Chicago facilities. Data are voluntarily reported on a weekly basis and do not contain patient demographic or geographic information. The data reported represent both Chicago and non-Chicago residents tested by the reporting facility.

The respiratory viruses included are influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, parainfluenza, rhinovirus/enterovirus, adenovirus, human metapneumovirus, and seasonal coronaviruses. Influenza laboratory data are available from 2010-2011 to present; for all other respiratory viruses data are available from 2019-2020 to present.
