The Chicago Public Library Summer Reading Program is an eight-week thematic reading program planned to encourage and instill the love of reading and enjoyment of books in children and teens while promoting the development of their reading interests.

Summer Reads for Adults is offered in June and July. The program provides participants with the opportunity to explore a central theme through a wide variety of suggested readings and to participate in related and inventive programming such as lectures, discussions, tours and performances.
