Taxi trips reported to the City of Chicago in its role as a regulatory agency. To protect privacy but allow for aggregate analyses, the Taxi ID is consistent for any given taxi medallion number but does not show the number, Census Tracts are suppressed in some cases, and times are rounded to the nearest 15 minutes.
Due to the data reporting process, not all trips are reported but the City believes that most are.
See http://digital.cityofchicago.org/index.php/chicago-taxi-data-released for more information about this dataset and how it was created.
See http://dev.cityofchicago.org/open%20data/data%20portal/2019/04/12/tnp-taxi-privacy.html for further discussion of the approach to privacy in this dataset.

All trips, starting November 2018, reported by Transportation Network Providers (sometimes called rideshare companies) to the City of Chicago as part of routine reporting required by ordinance.
Census Tracts are suppressed in some cases, and times are rounded to the nearest 15 minutes. Fares are rounded to the nearest $2.50 and tips are rounded to the nearest $1.00.
For a discussion of the approach to privacy in this dataset, please see http://dev.cityofchicago.org/open%20data/data%20portal/2019/04/12/tnp-taxi-privacy.html.

Electric scooter trips taken under the Chicago's ongoing program, summarized by census tract. The similar dataset from the 2020 pilot program is at https://data.cityofchicago.org/d/3srm-twg4.
For privacy reasons, some Census Tracts (accounting for fewer than 4% of trips as of the 2022 data) corresponding to very-low-frequency combinations have been removed. Note that some other Census Tract values may be blank due to limitations in the source data or being outside Chicago.

OUTDATED. See the current data at https://data.cityofchicago.org/d/6imu-meau --Street center lines in Chicago. The data can be viewed on the Chicago Data Portal with a web browser. However, to view or use the files outside of a web browser, you will need to use compression software and special GIS software, such as ESRI ArcGIS (shapefile) or Google Earth (KML or KMZ), is required.

Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), Division of Infrastructure Management (DIM), operates Chicago’s “One Call” service—known as “811 Chicago.” Per Municipal Code of Chicago (MCC) § 10-21-080, “in the event of damage to any underground facilities, the person responsible for the damage shall immediately notify…811 Chicago.”
811 Chicago records all reported damages as “hit tickets.” This dataset contains hit tickets since January 1, 2020. (Prior to that date, hit tickets data is a less reliable measure of utility damages.)
Please note, a hit ticket does not necessarily mean damage occurred or implicate the parties listed on the hit ticket as having caused the damage. For example, an excavator may report damage they discovered, but did not cause; an entity may incorrectly report the utility that was damaged or who caused the damage; the same damage may be reported by more than one entity. 811 Chicago investigates all reported damages to determine if there was a violation of MCC § 10-21. During the course of its investigation, 811 Chicago will confirm the information on the hit ticket. If 811 Chicago discovers inaccurate information, it may not update the hit ticket. The data related to 811 Chicago’s investigation is not exposed in this data set. Importantly, 811 Chicago does not determine which entity is liable for the damage, and the “hit by” field does not indicate that the individual or entity caused the damage or violated MCC § 10-21.

In order to seek stakeholder engagement in a Public Passenger Vehicle Industry study (report linked below in Featured Content) it commissioned in late 2020, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection conducted an online survey of public chauffeurs (taxi, livery, and ride hail drivers). The survey was open for responses from 3/10/2021 to 4/1/2021.
The 7,021 self-reported responses received are shown in this dataset. Personally identifiable information (PII) written by a responder in a free-text response field was redacted to protect the responder’s identify. Otherwise, self-reported answers are presented as submitted and unedited.
Please e-mail questions or comments regarding the PPV Study or the Public Chauffeur Survey to BACPPV@cityofchicago.org.
